Lockee: meaning
Also: locked one, locked sub, locked partner

Lockee is the person who is locked. In a chastity dynamic there are two roles: the one who wears the device (the lockee) and the one who holds the key (the keyholder). The words matter because they describe responsibility rather than status: the lockee agrees to the rules, and the keyholder agrees to look after the lockee.
Where the word is used
You find "lockee" mostly in chastity-specific communities and in writing about male chastity. It can describe a person in a long-term relationship, someone in a short challenge such as Locktober, or someone who has handed a key to a partner online through virtual keyholding.

What a lockee does
A lockee usually agrees to a short list of duties.
- Wear the device on the schedule agreed.
- Check in at agreed times.
- Report problems honestly, such as skin irritation or pain.
- Follow any rules for touching, porn or arousal.
- Ask for release rather than taking it.
The best arrangements are explicit about the exit: a lockee can always ask to be unlocked for safety, and the keyholder agrees to answer. I stress this in my chastity talk with your partner guide.
Solo lockees

Some people lock themselves and give the key away through a lockbox or timer, calling themselves lockees even without a person on the other end. That's closer to self-bondage than to a partner dynamic, and it needs more care because there's no outside check. See where to keep the chastity key and chastity without a keyholder.
Lockee in audio
In my files the lockee is you. Start Here Part 7: Locked describes the first lock from the wearer's point of view, and Start Here Part 8: Keyholder hands the key over. If you're curious how the role feels over a whole month, Locktober guide lays it out day by day.
Not a label for life

Lockee is a role in a dynamic, not an identity. Many people take it on for a weekend, a month or a season, and set it aside. If you want to try it, the chastity for beginners guide and the chastity and denial path are good first steps.
Choosing a good keyholder
If you are looking for someone to hold your key, pick a person who is calm, honest and reliable, who answers messages, and who treats your safety as the first rule. Avoid anyone who pressures you to hand over a key quickly or won't agree to an emergency exit. Trust builds over weeks, and a short trial lock with a spare key in your own hands is a sensible first step.
Examples in a sentence
- "As the lockee, I give her an update every evening."
- "The lockee wears the cage, the keyholder holds the key."
- "He signed up as a lockee for the month."
Frequently asked questions
What does lockee mean?
A lockee is the person wearing a chastity device whose release is controlled by someone else, the keyholder. The term can also describe someone who deliberately places their own key out of reach, though a partnered dynamic is the common meaning.
What is the difference between a lockee and a keyholder?
The lockee wears the device and follows the rules. The keyholder holds the key and decides when it is opened. Both have duties: the lockee reports honestly, and the keyholder responds to safety needs and looks after the lockee.
Can a lockee ask to be released?
Yes. Any good dynamic includes a safety exit: if there is pain, skin damage, numbness or distress, the lockee can request an immediate unlock. Requests for ordinary release are a normal part of the game, and the keyholder may or may not grant them.
