Queening: meaning
Also: queen, facesitting, queening position

Queening is the term for a woman positioning herself over her partner's face, either to receive oral sex or to dominate him, and it works as a position, an act and a style of play all at once. Think of it as facesitting with a crown on.
What queening means
The word has two layers:
- The act. She straddles or sits on his face, controlling pressure, pace and duration.
- The dynamic. The person underneath is the 'throne', in service to her, and she sets the rules for how long it lasts, what he does and when it ends.
In most scenes queening is oral sex with a power-exchange twist. In others it is purely about domination, with clothes on and no oral at all. Facesitting is the more general search term; queening is the community word.
Where the word comes from

The 'queen' imagery is old. Dominant women in erotica were described as queens on thrones centuries before the modern kink scene, and a man beneath a seated woman made an obvious picture. The verb 'to queen' entered kink slang in the twentieth century, and there is a related term, 'smothering', for scenes that emphasise restricted breathing. Queening focuses on the seat; smothering on the breath. They overlap, and the second needs more care.
The name also leaned on goddess and mistress vocabulary: a woman who queens is being worshipped, so the language rises with her.
Common positions
| Position | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Straddle | Knees on either side of his head, facing his feet or his face | Easiest to control weight |
| Reverse queening | Facing away from his face | Often favoured for comfort |
| Seated on chair | He is under the chair seat or stool | Distance control, less contact |
| Standing over | She stands above and lowers on command | Dramatic, short holds |
Use a pillow under his head for neck support, and keep her weight on her own knees rather than letting it rest wholly on his face.
Safety and the signal

Queening only works if the person underneath can always stop it:
- Agree a signal before starting. Tapping her thigh twice or a hand squeeze is better than a spoken safeword, since a mouth may be covered.
- Keep the airway clear. She lifts every few seconds, especially when starting. Heavy breathing is expected; panic is not.
- Do not seal the nose and mouth together. Smothering carries real risk and is a different practice.
- Take neck care seriously. Support the head and skip the position if either person has a neck problem.
- Short rounds first. Ten to thirty seconds, then longer once you are both comfortable.

Queening in audio
Queening works beautifully on audio because the voice does what the body would: it sets the tone, counts him in, orders him to stay. Scenes in my library often use it as the final reward or the final humiliation after a long tease and denial build. Sissy's Face Milked Dry on Mistress's Pussy is a full queening scene in audio form. Frequently asked questions
What does queening mean?
Queening means a woman sitting on a partner's face, either for oral sex or as a dominance act. It is another word for facesitting, with the added idea that the person underneath is serving her like a throne.
Is queening the same as facesitting?
Mostly yes. Facesitting is the plain description; queening is the community name that adds the power-exchange flavour. Queening often implies she controls duration and pressure, and he is there to serve.
Is queening safe?
It can be, with agreed signals, short rounds, a clear airway and neck support. Avoid sealing both nose and mouth, and skip it if anyone has neck or breathing problems. A non-verbal stop signal is essential.
What is the safe signal for queening?
Use a non-verbal signal, since the mouth may be covered. Two firm taps on her thigh or a squeeze of her hand works well. She should lift immediately when she feels it, and everyone should practise once beforehand.
