Your voice got softer last time.
Now your feet learn the same lesson.
Stand up.
Right where you are.
Shoes off if you can.
Bare feet know more than shoes do.
Feet together.
Shoulders back.
Chin level.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Good girl.
This is a walking session.
Not a listening session.
You stand for this one.
You move for this one.
If you cannot stand right now, that is fine.
Picture every step instead.
Picture it exactly.
Your body will remember anyway.
Close your eyes for one breath.
Open them again.
You need your eyes for this.
A floor to cross.
A few feet is enough.
A hallway.
A rug.
Any space will do.
Breathe in through your nose.
Hold it.
Breathe out slow.
Again.
In.
Hold.
Out.
Good.
Your shoulders are already lower than when we started.
That is the first thing to go.
Now notice how you usually walk.
Heavy heels.
Fast feet.
Arms swinging like you are late for something.
That walk is loud.
That walk is armor.
We are not using it today.
Ten steps.
That is all.
Ten steps, and each one takes something off you.
Not clothes.
Habits.
Walk them with me, slow, right now.
Step one.
Stop rushing.
Lift your foot like you have nowhere to be.
Set it down soft.
Step two.
Drop your shoulders.
Let them fall an inch you did not know they had.
Step three.
Unlock your knees.
A small bend, always, never locked straight.
Step four.
Let your hips move.
Not pushed.
Just let them, when the knee bends.
Step five.
Narrow your steps.
Feet closer to one line, not wide apart.
Step six.
Lead with the hip.
The foot follows.
Not the other way.
Step seven.
Quiet your arms.
Small movement, close to your body, not swinging.
Step eight.
Heel first, then roll to your toe.
Every step.
Heel, then toe.
Step nine.
Chin level.
Eyes soft, not staring at your feet.
Step ten.
Small.
Pretty.
Unhurried.
That is the whole walk.
Good girl.
You just took your first ten steps.
Even if you only imagined them.
Even if you only moved in your chair.
They counted.

Before we go again, a few things people get wrong.
Mistake one.
Leaning back too far.
Soft is not a slouch.
Spine stays tall.
Just the weight shifts back, not the whole body.
Mistake two.
Taking the hip lead too big.
A sway, not a swing.
Small is pretty.
Big is a costume.
Mistake three.
Holding your breath while you concentrate.
Keep breathing.
Slow, even, through all ten steps.
Mistake four.
Rushing step ten because the list is over.
Step ten is the most important one.
Small.
Pretty.
Unhurried.
Do not let it go fast just because it is last.
Good.
Now feel the floor under you.
Really feel it.
Rug, wood, tile, whatever is there.
Cool or warm.
Soft or firm.
Your weight rolling heel to toe across it.
This is your floor now.
You cross it differently than you did an hour ago.
One more variation before round two.
Close your eyes for three steps.
Just three.
Trust your feet to remember without watching them.
Heel.
Toe.
Hip leads.
Open your eyes again.
Good girl.
Your body already knew the way.
Now we do it again.
Faster this time, but softer, not rushed.
Same ten.
Say them with me in your head as you move.
Stop rushing.
Drop the shoulders.
Unlock the knees.
Let the hips move.
Narrow the steps.
Lead with the hip.
Quiet the arms.
Heel then toe.
Chin level.
Small and pretty.
That is round two.
Notice how fast that went.
Notice how your body already wanted the next word before I said it.
That is how fast this settles into you.
One more round, and this time, whisper the words.
Out loud if you can.
A whisper is enough.
Stop rushing.
Drop the shoulders.
Unlock the knees.
Let the hips move.
Narrow the steps.
Lead with the hip.
Quiet the arms.
Heel then toe.
Chin level.
Small and pretty.
Good.
That was round three.
Your voice did that last time.
Your feet just did it this time.
Same training.
Different muscle.
Now stand still.
Feel your weight.
Heel to toe, heel to toe, even standing still you can feel where the weight wants to sit.
Let it sit back on your heels.
A lady's weight rests back, not forward.
Forward is rushing.
Back is patient.
Breathe in.
Hold.
Breathe out.
Good girl.
Check your shoulders.
Down.
Check your knees.
Soft.
Check your chin.
Level.
Check your weight.
Back on the heels.
Good.
All four, right now, without moving a step.
That is the whole posture in four checks.
Shoulders.
Knees.
Chin.
Weight.
Keep them there.
Here is the anchor.
Every single time you stand up today, from a chair, from your bed, from the car, you take the first step soft.
Heel first.
Hip leading.
Just the first step.
Nobody will notice.
You will.
Every time, the first step is hers.
Not yours.
Hers.
The rest of the walk can be anything you need it to be in public.
But that first step belongs to this training.
Every time.
All day.
Tomorrow too.
Let's walk the ten steps one more time, all the way through, and this time just feel them, do not name them.
No words.
Just the shape of it.
Rushing stops.
Shoulders drop.
Knees unlock.
Hips move.
Steps narrow.
Hip leads.
Arms quiet.
Heel, toe.
Chin level.
Small, pretty.
Good girl.
That is four rounds now.
Four times through.
Your body has it even if your head is still arguing.
The head always argues longer than the body does.

Now the chain.
Say these back to me, out loud or in your head, however you can manage right now.
I walk soft.
I lead with my hip.
My weight rests back.
My steps are small.
My arms are quiet.
I am not rushing.
I have nowhere to be.
This is how she moves.
Say it again.
I walk soft.
I lead with my hip.
My weight rests back.
My steps are small.
My arms are quiet.
I am not rushing.
I have nowhere to be.
This is how she moves.
Good.
One more time, slower.
I walk soft.
I lead with my hip.
My weight rests back.
My steps are small.
My arms are quiet.
I am not rushing.
I have nowhere to be.
This is how she moves.
Last time, slowest of all, almost a whisper.
I walk soft.
I lead with my hip.
My weight rests back.
My steps are small.
My arms are quiet.
I am not rushing.
I have nowhere to be.
This is how she moves.
Good girl.
Sit back down now, if you were standing.
Or just let your feet settle where they are.
If you stumbled anywhere in this, that is fine.
Nobody gets ten steps right the first day.
Not the voice, and not the walk.
A wobble is not a failure.
A wobble means you are actually trying it, not just hearing it.
Try it again tomorrow, slower, and it gets easier.
Every single person who walks soft now fell out of step more than once.
That is not the part anyone remembers.
What they remember is the tenth day, when it stopped being practice.
Notice your shoulders.
Still down.
Notice your breath.
Still slow.
That is not an accident.
That is the training holding.
Tomorrow, before you stand up for the first time, say one word to yourself.
Soft.
Just that.
Soft.
Then take the step.
Heel first.
Hip leading.
Do this every day this week.
Ten steps, three rounds, the chain at the end.
It gets faster to drop into each time.
By day five it will not feel like practice.
It will feel like walking.
Morning is best, before the day puts your old walk back on you.
Barefoot in your room, five minutes, the full ten steps, twice through.
If mornings are impossible, evenings work too.
Same room.
Same floor.
Same ten steps.
Consistency matters more than the time of day.
By day three, try it in socks instead of bare feet.
By day five, try a few steps in actual shoes.
The hip still leads.
The heel still rolls first.
Shoes do not change the training, only the surface.
Some days you will only have time for the chain, not the full ten steps.
That is still practice.
Say it standing, say it slow, and let your body lean into it even without moving.
Something is always better than nothing here.

One more thing before you go.
You have been doing this with your eyes open the whole time.
Watching your own feet.
Feeling your own hips.
From the inside.
Next lesson, you see it from the outside.
Not imagined.
Not felt.
Seen.
A mirror, and the walk you just learned, looking back at you, and it will not look like you expected.
I am not telling you more than that.
Not yet.
You will stand in front of glass next time, and she will already be walking before you are ready for her to.
Good girl.
That is the end of this one.
Breathe out.
The next lesson is waiting for you at ariawilde.com.
