Hypnosis Triggers List: 8 Common Types, Examples and How They're Installed

By Aria Wilde · updated 2026-10-08 · 6 min read

hypnosis triggers list
A hypnosis trigger is a cue, usually a word, phrase, colour, sound or touch, that brings back a specific state after it has been paired with that state in trance. The most common types are sleep/drop, wake, praise (good girl), freeze, mantra, colour, touch and count triggers. They're installed through repetition and reinforcement.

This hypnosis triggers list covers the triggers you'll meet most often in erotic and sissy hypnosis: what each type does, real examples, and how they're actually installed. If you've ever wondered why a single word can make an experienced listener go limp and dreamy, the answer is less mysterious than it looks. It's conditioning, built carefully and willingly over time.

What a hypnosis trigger is

A trigger (sometimes called a post-hypnotic suggestion or an anchor) is a link between a cue and a response. In trance, the hypnotist repeatedly pairs a word, image or sensation with a state such as deep relaxation, arousal or blankness. After enough repetition, the cue on its own starts to bring the state back.

Three things make a trigger work:

Triggers are context-dependent and consent-dependent. They work best with the voice and setting they were built with, and only for a willing listener.

The hypnosis triggers list: 8 common types

1. Sleep and drop triggers

The most common trigger of all. A word or phrase that sends you straight back into trance, skipping the long induction. Examples: sleep, drop, sink, blank and deep, fall for me. A good drop trigger is the foundation for almost every other trigger, because it gets you to the receptive state quickly.

2. Wake triggers

The counterpart to a drop trigger. A phrase or count that brings you fully back. Examples: wide awake, eyes open, a count up from one to five. Well-made files always pair a drop with a wake.

3. Praise triggers

Phrases that produce warmth, pride and pleasure. Good girl is by far the most famous; others include that's my girl, pretty thing and well done. Praise triggers work unusually well because praise already feels good before any conditioning. I've written a whole guide to the good girl trigger, and Sissy Hypno Good Girl Conditioning builds it from scratch.

4. Freeze and stillness triggers

A cue that makes you go still and heavy, often with a pleasant, helpless feeling. Examples: freeze, statue, stay, don't move. Usually designed with a built-in release word and a time limit.

5. Mantra and speech triggers

A phrase that prompts you to repeat something, or a mantra that deepens trance each time you say it. Examples: say it for me, obey is pleasure, I am soft. Speaking aloud is powerful because you're both hearing and producing the suggestion. Say Sissy Until It Stops Meaning Anything uses repetition this way.

6. Colour and visual triggers

A colour, object or image linked to a feeling. Pink is the classic in sissy hypnosis, but any colour works. The appeal is that you'll see it naturally throughout your day. Sissy Hypnosis Anchored to the Colour Pink shows how this is done.

7. Touch, scent and sound triggers

Physical anchors: touching your earlobe, the feeling of soft fabric, a particular perfume or lotion, a chime. These are the most private triggers because only you know they're happening. See Sissy Hypnosis Anchored to a Scent and Sissy Hypnosis Anchored to a Sound.

8. Count and snap triggers

A countdown or a snap of the fingers, often used to deepen ('each number takes you twice as deep') or to trigger a change instantly. Common in live hypnosis and recreated in audio with sound effects.

How triggers are installed

How triggers are installed, Aria Wilde

Installation follows a consistent pattern, whether in a live session or audio.

  1. Deep state first. The listener is relaxed and receptive after an induction and deepener.
  2. Introduce the cue clearly. The hypnotist explains what the trigger is and what it will do.
  3. Pair, repeatedly. The cue is spoken right as the state peaks, many times, often with suggestions that the response gets stronger each time.
  4. Test inside the session. The listener is brought up, then the trigger is used to drop them again. Successful responses build confidence.
  5. Reinforce. Praise, pleasure or relief follows a successful response.
  6. Repeat across sessions. One session plants a trigger; a week or two of regular listening makes it reliable.
  7. Use it outside sessions. Encountering the cue during the day strengthens it further, which is why colour and touch triggers grow so fast.

Most listeners find a trigger becomes reliable somewhere between five and fifteen sessions with the same voice. Short, focused files such as Sissy Hypnosis With One Trigger Word are ideal for this.

How to test whether a trigger has taken

It's easy to wonder whether a trigger is really working or whether you're imagining it. A simple, low-pressure test helps:

  1. Wait a day after a session, so you're not still in the afterglow.
  2. Get comfortable and relaxed, but don't do a full induction.
  3. Play a short clip of the cue, or think it clearly in the voice that installed it.
  4. Notice without judging for thirty seconds: breathing, heaviness, warmth, a smile, arousal, a pull to close your eyes.
  5. Rate it from 0 to 10 and write it down.

Repeat every few days. A trigger that's taking hold shows a rising score and a faster response. If the score stays flat after two weeks of regular listening, the usual culprits are switching files, inconsistent timing or a cue that's too common in everyday speech.

Stacking triggers

Once two triggers are reliable, they can be combined. A drop trigger followed by a praise trigger, for example, takes you deep and then rewards you for going there. Stacked triggers feel richer than either alone, but only stack triggers that are individually solid; a weak trigger dilutes a strong one.

Designing your own trigger set

Designing your own trigger set, Aria Wilde

If you're building triggers deliberately, a few principles keep them useful and fun:

The triggers and anchors path is laid out in exactly this order, and the Sissy Academy path weaves a few core triggers into its wider training.

Safety and control

Triggers can't override your judgement. If a trigger fires at a bad moment, you can notice it and carry on. A flicker of feeling is the most you'll get in the wrong context. Responsible files:

If you want to retire a trigger, simply stop reinforcing it; it fades. My guide do hypnosis triggers wear off explains how fast and how to speed it up, and hypnotic anchors goes deeper on building colour, scent and sound cues in seven days.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most common hypnosis trigger?

The drop or sleep trigger, a word like 'sleep', 'drop' or 'sink' that takes you straight back into trance. It's the foundation for most others because it skips the long induction. In erotic and sissy hypnosis, 'good girl' is the most popular praise trigger and probably the best known overall.

How many sessions does it take to install a trigger?

It varies with your responsiveness and the trigger, but most people notice a response after three to five sessions and find it reliable after five to fifteen. Daily listening to the same file installs triggers fastest. Praise and colour triggers often grow quickest because they're reinforced naturally.

Can a hypnosis trigger make you do something?

A trigger brings back a state, such as relaxation, warmth or stillness. It can't make you act against your will or values. In the wrong context, like at work, you'll notice at most a flicker of the feeling and can carry on normally. Triggers depend on consent and setting.

Can I have multiple hypnosis triggers?

Yes. Experienced listeners often have several: a drop, a wake, a praise trigger and a colour or touch anchor. Add them one at a time, wait until each is reliable before installing the next, and use distinctive cues so they don't interfere with each other.

Do hypnosis triggers work from any voice?

They're strongest with the voice that installed them. Triggers are tied to context, including the voice, tone and setting. Some generalise partly to other voices, especially common ones like 'good girl', but responses are usually weaker. A creator can deliberately build triggers designed to work universally.
