Script fill: meaning
Also: script filling, fill, script fill request, filling a script

A script fill is what happens when a voice performer records someone else's written audio script. Writers post scripts for others to perform, and the recorded version is the "fill". The word comes from the idea of filling a request or a template.
What script fill means
Terms around the practice:
- Script: a written audio piece with dialogue, stage directions and sound cues.
- Writer: the author, who owns the text.
- Performer (filler): the voice actor who records it.
- Fill: the finished recording.
- Request: a call from a listener for a particular script.
This ecosystem grew on forums where writers share scripts under open permissions. See also F4A and F4M for tags.
How script filling works

- Find a script. Browse a script forum or library.
- Check the writer's rules. Some require permission; some allow any use with credit; some forbid monetising.
- Prepare. Read aloud, mark pauses, and decide how to handle sound effects.
- Record. Use a quiet room, a decent mic and consistent levels.
- Edit and post. Add credit in the title and description, and keep the writer's tags.
- Notify the writer. A courtesy link is customary.
Credit etiquette
- Always credit the writer by name or handle.
- Link or reference the original script.
- Do not edit the text significantly without asking.
- Do not claim authorship.
- Respect monetisation rules. If the writer says no payment, do not charge for it.
- Tell them if you remove a line for safety or taste.
Ignoring these rules is the fastest way to be blocked from a community.
Script fill vs original recording

An original recording is written and performed by the same person. I write my own scripts and perform them myself, so there are no fills in my catalog; the techniques are still the same, and how to write a hypnosis script shows the structure I use. If you want to sample a finished piece before trying your own, Sissy Hypnosis in Five Minutes is the easiest introduction.
What makes a good fill
- Natural pacing. Do not rush stage directions.
- Clean audio. Edit breaths and mouth clicks, unless they are part of the style.
- Fidelity. Keep to the written story, but make it sound like yours.
- Respect for limits. Skip or alter content outside your comfort zone, with the writer's agreement.
Scripts in the library
Free scripts exist in my guides too: hypnosis induction script, feminization hypnosis script and joi script. They are for reading, personal use and practice; if you record one for sharing, credit the source and follow the usage note on the page.
Common mistakes
Fillers sometimes publish without credit, change the ending, or add a fee without permission. Ask first and keep records of the agreement.
Examples in a sentence
- "I'm doing a script fill of her bedtime piece this weekend."
- "Credit the writer in the title for every script fill."
- "She asked for a script fill with a softer ending."
Frequently asked questions
What is a script fill in ASMR?
A script fill is a recording in which a performer voices a script written by someone else. The writer shares the text, usually with rules about credit, and the performer records the audio and publishes it with attribution.
Do I need permission to fill a script?
Often yes, or at least you must follow the writer's stated rules. Some scripts are open to anyone with credit; others require a request or forbid monetised use. Read the post carefully and ask if anything is unclear before recording.
How should I credit the writer?
Put the writer's name or handle in the title or the first line of the description, link or name the original script and keep the tags. Notify the writer after publishing. Never present the script as your own work.
