Gaff: meaning

Also: gaff panty, tucking gaff, tucking underwear

gaff meaning
Gaff: A gaff is a tight, usually stretch-fabric undergarment that flattens the front by holding the genitals tucked back between the legs. Drag performers, crossdressers and trans women wear it to get a smooth line under dresses, leggings and swimwear. It is the main alternative to tucking tape.

A gaff is the garment people reach for when they want a flat, smooth front under tight clothes. It is a snug panty, often with a reinforced front panel, that holds everything tucked back so nothing shows through leggings, a pencil skirt or a swimsuit.

What a gaff is

The word comes from theatre and drag slang. A gaff is not shapewear in the usual sense: its job is containment and flattening, not shaping the waist or hips. A good one has a firm front panel, a gentle gusset and a waistband that does not roll. Material is usually nylon-spandex blend, sometimes with cotton lining.

People wear gaffs for drag, for en femme outings, for dance, and in everyday life when they want a clean silhouette.

How tucking with a gaff works

How tucking with a gaff works, Aria Wilde
  1. Gently move the testicles up toward or into the inguinal canal (a natural pocket on each side).
  2. Draw the penis back between the legs, pointing toward the rear.
  3. Pull the gaff up and smooth the front panel flat, then check that nothing is twisted.
  4. Adjust the waistband so it sits at the hip without digging.

Take it slowly the first time. It should feel snug, not painful. If something pinches or goes numb, take it off and re-do it. Time limits matter; see how long you can tuck and how to tuck comfortably for the details on breaks and hygiene.

Types of gaff

Gaff vs tape

Gaff vs tape, Aria Wilde

Tape holds the tuck in place with adhesive and gives the flattest result, but it pulls on skin and hair and cannot be worn for long. A gaff is reusable, quicker and gentler, though it can slip with movement. Many people use both: tape for a performance night, a gaff for ordinary days. The full comparison is in gaff vs tucking tape.

Fit and care

Size by your waist and hips, not your usual underwear size, and try one size down only if the front panel gaps. Wash in cool water, air-dry, and replace when the elastic gives out; a tired gaff stops holding. Wearing one overnight is not advised.

Gaff in kink and sissy play

In sissy training a gaff is an everyday item: a controlled, discreet way to wear the shape of the fantasy under normal clothes. It pairs well with padded hips and the other pieces in the sissy starter kit. A mistress may require one during public tasks. Sissy Hypnosis for Getting Dressed is a good listen while you put it on, and Sissy Hypnosis in Front of the Mirror for the moment you check the line.

A gaff is also distinct from a chastity cage; one is concealment, the other is control.

Frequently asked questions

Is a gaff comfortable?

A correctly sized gaff is snug but not painful. Most discomfort comes from wrong size, a twisted front panel or a waistband that rolls. Take breaks, avoid wearing one for sleeping, and stop if you feel numbness, sharp pain or skin irritation.

What is the difference between a gaff and a thong?

A thong is ordinary underwear with minimal fabric at the back. A gaff has a reinforced front panel and is designed to hold tucked genitals flat. A thong gaff exists for tight clothes, but a normal thong does not hide or contain anything.

Can you make a DIY gaff?

Yes. Layer two pairs of snug stretch underwear, or cut and hem a pair of tights, and test the hold before wearing them out. Homemade versions slip more than purpose-made ones, so they work best for short, low-movement occasions.
